Mary Ann is deeply involved in a new and exciting movement called Collaborative Divorce.
Only about 20 years old, this model of divorce provides a new framework within which couples can separate their lives, while maintaining their dignity as well as their pocketbooks and their emotional health. Like most of us, Mary Ann has seen many families spend years in court, while depleting their retirement funds and destroying relationships in the process of long battles. Collaborative Divorce offers a strong alternative. Interdisciplinary teams, dedicated to keeping families civil and out of court, are built according to the needs of divorcing families, with particular focus on the needs of children. These teams may include collaborative attorneys, therapists as divorce coaches and child specialists, and neutral financial experts. |
Mary Ann has been serving as "divorce coach" on these teams since 2001, and has helped many families complete their divorces in healthier ways.
Mary Ann belongs to three local groups that provide Collaborative Divorce to the public: CCD (Coalition for Collaborative Divorce), LACFLA (Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association) and PCD (Pasadena Collaborative Divorce.) She has been a member of the IACP (International Academy of Collaborative Professionals) since 2003. She has been in consistent leadership positions in CCD since 2001.
